He then willfully comes back to life when he realizes that John is in danger because of Mary. He goes on to reveal that Mary is a psychopath and an assassin, but convinces John that it’s not Mary’s fault and actually, while she did shoot him, she also gave him a chance at surviving it.
(Even though she wasn’t very happy that he survived, and she proceeded to threaten him while he was barely conscious. But anyway.)
After he’s convinced John that he should disregard all this nonsense and go back to being a good husband to Mary, Sherlock calls for an ambulance himself, and tells John that, after the song and dance about how Mary deserves John, he anticipates that his heart will need restarting.
I’m sure there’s no heartbreak suggestion implied here, or anything.
what i hate - NO, WHAT I DESPISE !!!!! - about Sherlock saying “could be dangerous” to recruit John is that Sherlock thinks this works every time because John is attracted to danger and dangerous people. and like, Yes, sure John is a slut for danger, but when Sherlock says “could be dangerous” what John is really hearing is “Sherlock needs me, and Sherlock wants me to come. Sherlock is trying to entice me because he wants and needs me” and that’s why John !!!!!!!! SMILES !!! AND !!!!!!!! AAUUUUUUGH!!!!!!!!!
Perhaps there was another reason that Sherlock was so upset on the plane.
I’ve been thinking about the tarmac scene recently since I re-watched ASIB last night and I couldn’t help but get stuck on these two particular scenes:
Sherlock was counting the minutes! He was counting the minutes he was away. He knew he was going to his death and he was still counting the minutes.
Four minutes.
He’s technically still in England so he’s not counting his time outside the country. He’s been away from London and Baker Street for longer than those four minutes, so we know he doesn’t mean that.
Then what on Earth could he mean? Who or what is four minutes away from him?
